Father's Day Weekend 2009

For Father's Day we decided to go to Mississippi and spend the weekend with Lawrence's Dad. It was a good weekend to go because Jackson was having their music festival that weekend, Jubilee Jam, and Blue Mountain was playing on Saturday. Not only do we like Blue Mountain's music, but their last CD was produced/engineered/mixed by Lawrence's Brother-in-Law, Stuart Sikes. The weekend was good. We arrived at Mr. Hamberlin's house late Friday night like always. Saturday we watched some of the US Open, rode around in the golf cart, and then we headed dowtown to see Blue Mountain. They put on a great show, and we had fun even though it was HOT!!! Luckily there were misting fans located throughout the area, so we would cool off with those...Claudia loved running through them! After Blue Mountain finished performing we headed to another stage and watched Joan Jett for about 30 minutes...we had dinner plans at Lawrence's cousin's house, so we had to leave the show early. Claudia loves music, so she enjoyed the Jubilee Jam. It is funny to me that my 2 and a half year old has seen Joan Jett in concert...who would have thought she would still be around after all these years!! Dinner at Laurie's house was great, and it was great to see some of that side of the family. Father's Day Sunday was great...we played in the sprinkler and cooked dinner that night for Mr. Hamberlin...steak, baked potatoes, salad, and corn on the cobb. We watched more of the US Open, rode around in the gold cart some more, and Lawrence and his Dad went and hit golf balls. We had already planned to stay through Monday so we could watch the whole US Open with Mr. Hamberlin before the rain delays and all occurred...luckily the tournament ended by noon on Monday, so we packed up and headed back to Auburn. All and all the weekend was good. Claudia loves going to Papa's house!! The only thing I hate, is that we didn't take any pictures of Claudia, Lawrence, and Mr. Hamberlin together...we will have to be sure to do that on our next trip.

Summer 2009 So Far

It seems everyone has a blog these days, so I decided I would try it out as well. For those of you that are friends with me on Facebook, I apologoze in advance for the duplication. The Summer of 2009 has come upon us fast, and will be gone just as fast as it got here...July is 2 days away...unbelievable. Our Summer started out super busy and has conitinued on that same course for the past 2 months. Right now July is looking slow, but something tells me it will be packed with more stuff soon! May started with a welcoming party for Macy Brewer who was born on January 28, 2009...she was 7 1/2 weeks early. Macy turned 5 months yesterday and doing wonderful! Then there was Mother's Day weekend...a nice quiet relaxing weekend here in Auburn. On Mother's Day Lawrence and Claudia made me my favorite breakfast, French Toast, and it was awesome! Mother's Day weekend was followed by the Annual Calagaz Crawfish Boil at the Calagaz Bay House. We packed up and headed down to Mobile Bay for the weekend. We dropped Claudia off at my Mom's house, and she stayed there until Memorial Day. The Boil was great and the company even better! Great memories are always made when we get together! Lawrence and I then headed back to Auburn for a short work week...we headed to the beach on the Thursday before Memorial Day. However, those three days in Auburn were busy...we had Lawrence's Birthday, so I took him to a Braves game, and then he had a golf tournament with a dinner that we went to following the tournament. Thursday we got up and headed to the beach. The trip was great, the weather not so much...it rained the entire time. So we had to find other things to do besides lay on the beach. We went to a winery, shopped, and went to Seaside and heard a great little band in the amphitheatre there. Oh, and we both got some much needed rest! We wrapped May up with hearing a great band from Oxford, Mississippi, Blue Mountain, the Touchdown's Crawfish Festival, and a day trip to Lake Martin.

So then June was here, and it was looking like we wouldn't be that busy. Oh how things change! That first Friday we got a phone call from some friends whose parents have a lake house in South Alabama. They had the house for the weekend, and asked us if we wanted to go down there with them. So we said yes. We got down there Friday night, and then Saturday we spent the day in the sun and water. It was a great weekend with great friends. Claudia and her little friend, Hannah, had a blast together! We took Claudia to her first Braves game...tickets were a $1, so we thought why not! She loved it, and still talks about it! When she sees a baseball stadium on TV she assumes it is the Braves stadium and says she has been there...it is too cute! The next weekend we just hung out in Auburn, but we spent time at friend's houses catching up on things. Father's Day weekend we headed to Mississippi to see Lawrence's Dad...I will post those pictures separately. So that is the Hamberlins' Summer so far. Now I will try to keep things caught up so my post won't have to be so long! Enjoy the pictures below!
